General Li Qiaoming, the Commander of the Ground Forces of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA), met with Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif today in Islamabad.

The Prime Minister warmly welcomed General Li upon his arrival in Pakistan.

During the discussion, the Prime Minister highlighted the decades-long strategic relationship between Pakistan and China, emphasizing that the two countries are reliable friends. He further noted that the fraternal ties between the nations enjoy broad public, political, and institutional support in Pakistan, which is crucial for the development of both countries.

Expressing satisfaction with military exchanges, the Prime Minister stated that the defense and strategic relations between Pakistan and China are essential for peace and stability in the region.

General Li, in his conversation with the Prime Minister, affirmed that China considers its relationship with Pakistan as a top priority, referring to it as an "iron brother," strategic partner, and trusted friend. He expressed a desire to elevate the bilateral friendship between China and Pakistan to new levels of cooperation and collaboration. Appreciating Pakistan's armed forces' role in promoting regional peace and stability and in the fight against terrorism, General Li reiterated the PLA's commitment to expanding cooperation with Pakistan to enhance the capabilities of both armed forces.

Both parties agreed to further strengthen various aspects of the Pakistan-China friendship, particularly focusing on enhancing bilateral defense and strategic partnerships.
