Top Stories: Federal Minister for Information Addresses Protest Participants
Islamabad, August 9th (APP) Federal Minister for Information, Broadcasting, National Heritage, and Culture, Attaullah Tarar,
stated that Jamaat-e-Islami's objective is to provide relief to the public, and our goal is the same. He mentioned that their demand aligns with our agenda, and providing relief to the public is our priority. He made these remarks while addressing the participants of a sit-in and speaking to the media on Thursday night after negotiations with Jamaat-e-Islami. On this occasion, the Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, Ameer of Jamaat-e-Islami Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman, along with Liaquat Baloch, Nasrullah Randhawa, Ameer-ul-Azeem, Farasat Shah, and others were present.
The Federal Minister for Information said that the demand of Jamaat-e-Islami is our agenda, and when their demand and our agenda are the same, there should be no difference. He added that Jamaat-e-Islami's goal is to provide relief to the public, and our goal is the same. He mentioned that a subsidy of 50 billion rupees has been provided for consumers who use up to 200 units of electricity. He further stated that they sat with Jamaat-e-Islami with good intentions, and more ways to provide relief have been identified. He endorsed the announcements made by Liaquat Baloch and assured that the government would follow through on them. He added that their communication would remain continuous.
The Federal Minister also mentioned that meetings of committees related to IPPs and electricity prices would be ensured. He strongly condemned the ongoing atrocities by Israeli forces in Palestine and urged that international human rights forums and the United Nations should hold Israel accountable. He stressed that Israel is committing genocide against Palestinians, and they should be held responsible.
He concluded by saying that providing relief to the public is our duty, and we will fulfill this duty. Earlier, the government negotiation team held talks with Jamaat-e-Islami. The government negotiation team included Federal Minister for Information Attaullah Tarar, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, and the Prime Minister's Media Coordinator Shehbaz Badar Warraich, while Jamaat-e-Islami was represented by Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman, Liaquat Baloch, and Ameer-ul-Azeem in the negotiations. The RPO and Commissioner of Rawalpindi were also present on this occasion.
