Information Minister Atta Tarar accused the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) of attempting to "malign" the judiciary. He condemned recent remarks made by Latif Khosa about the Chief Justice and questioned the credibility of PTI leader Ali Amin Gandapur's claims.
Tarar stated, “The PTI's assertions of power are nothing more than empty statements. They are currently facing defeat.” He noted that those who were provided transportation to attend PTI's public gatherings did not show up, adding, “There were no barriers preventing attendance, and access was available from Islamabad.”
He characterized both the Lahore and Islamabad gatherings as failures, asserting, “PTI does not want to see the country’s economic revival.” Reflecting on the PTI's previous governance, Tarar pointed out that inflation had reached double digits during their tenure, while acknowledging that PTI leaders now admit that inflation has decreased.
Regarding the issue of NROs, Tarar firmly stated, “No one will receive an NRO.” He emphasized that the proposed constitutional amendments aim to ensure justice and that extensive consultations are underway for a constitutional package. He also highlighted the difference between apex courts and constitutional courts in Pakistan, noting that no verdict has yet been issued regarding the events of May 9. In comparison, he mentioned that similar cases in the United States were resolved within months.
