ISLAMABAD: Speaker of the National Assembly, Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, extended heartfelt congratulations to the nation following the approval of the 26th Constitutional Amendment. He emphasized that today is a historic day in Pakistan's constitutional development, with the nation's elected representatives taking a crucial step toward ensuring the supremacy of the Constitution and the rule of law.
Speaker Sadiq praised both the government and opposition leaders for their hard work and dedication, which made the passage of the 26th Amendment possible. "This is a significant milestone in Pakistan's constitutional history, and all political leaders who worked tirelessly for its approval deserve recognition," he stated. He added that the approval by a two-thirds majority from both Houses of Parliament represents a major triumph for the legislature.

ISLAMABAD: The Speaker of the National Assembly has praised parliamentary journalists for their exemplary reporting during the session for the 26th Constitutional Amendment. He acknowledged their disciplined and responsible reporting, which significantly contributed to maintaining decorum in the House during the legislative process.
The Speaker also recognized the important role of the Parliamentary Reporters Association of Pakistan (PRAP) in ensuring professionalism. ISLAMABAD: Speaker of the National Assembly, Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, has sent a letter to Senate Chairman Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani, requesting the establishment of a special parliamentary committee under Article 175(A) of the Constitution for the nomination of the Chief Justice of Pakistan.
In the letter, the Speaker asked for the names of senators to be part of this committee, which will consist of four senators and eight members of the National Assembly. The committee will be responsible for selecting the next Chief Justice from among the three most senior judges of the Supreme Court. The Speaker also instructed the Secretary-General of the National Assembly to send letters to parliamentary leaders in the National Assembly, requesting names for the committee.
