Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari on Sunday briefed Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) President Nawaz Sharif on developments pertaining to the constitutional amendment.
According to details, both the former foreign minister and ex-premier held a telephonic conversation. During this discussion, Nawaz and Bhutto-Zardari exchanged views on the country’s political situation.
Bhutto-Zardari also informed Nawaz about ongoing talks with Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) regarding the constitutional amendment. The leaders resolved to reach a consensus with political parties over the proposed amendment.
A few days earlier, Nawaz and Bhutto-Zardari had reached an agreement on constitutional amendments concerning judicial reforms during a meeting at Punjab House, where they discussed the current political landscape of the country.
Bilawal Bhutto was warmly welcomed by Nawaz Sharif upon his arrival. The discussions focused primarily on the need for judicial reforms and the necessary constitutional changes to facilitate these reforms.
A key takeaway from the meeting was the commitment to present the proposed amendments in Parliament. Both parties agreed to consult with each other and other political stakeholders to determine the appropriate date for this presentation.
