Speaking at the 2024 Girls’ Cricket Camp at Government Graduate College Rawalpindi on Tuesday, he emphasized the importance of providing platforms for young people in educational institutions to showcase their talent based on merit. During his address, Rana Mashhood proudly mentioned Pakistan’s recent sporting achievements, highlighting that after 12 years, the national hockey team has finally won a medal. He praised the leadership of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, noting, “It was under Shehbaz Sharif’s leadership as Chief Minister of Punjab that platforms like the Punjab Youth Festival emerged, allowing athletes like Arshad Nadeem to come forward and shine.”

He acknowledged that, in recent years, Pakistan has witnessed significant progress not only in its economy but also in various other sectors, including sports. "We are now seeing an overall improvement in all fields, including sports, as evidenced by the international victories of athletes such as Shahbaz Randhawa and Usman Wazir, who have raised Pakistan’s flag high on global platforms,” Mashhood remarked.

Rana Mashhood reiterated the government's focus on nurturing young talent, stating that the Prime Minister Youth Program would continue to support initiatives that uplift the nation’s youth. “We aim to create platforms for young individuals in educational institutions where they can demonstrate their abilities on merit. Our focus remains on the South Asian Games and the Youth Olympic Games, which are our primary targets,” he said.

He also stressed the importance of talent discovery and development, adding that the government is set to launch a Talent Hunt Program to identify and groom the best players. "Through this program, we will select the finest athletes, and our vision is to establish sports academies across the entire country, ensuring that the youth are well-equipped with the necessary resources and training to excel in their respective fields," Rana Mashhood elaborated.

The chairman expressed the government's intent to create a sporting infrastructure that will foster athleticism and provide a platform for the youth to excel both nationally and internationally. He affirmed, "Our youth will be given every opportunity to prove their talent, and we will ensure that they are prepared for the challenges of global sports competitions.”
