Islamabad: President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Nawaz Sharif expressed their dismay on Monday regarding the lack of global concern over the ongoing Israeli atrocities against Palestinians.
During the All-Parties Conference (APC) focused on expressing solidarity with Palestine, President Zardari urged the international community to take immediate action against these injustices. He stated, "The onus lies on the global community to take action to play its part in lowering the Middle East tensions." He condemned what he termed as "Israeli genocide," highlighting that "41,000 innocent Palestinians had embraced martyrdom due to the Israeli atrocity." Zardari also noted that the health and education infrastructures in Palestine have been severely damaged.
PM Shehbaz Calls for Global Action
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif echoed these sentiments, questioning the inaction of global powers in the face of such violence. He remarked, "I would like to ask the global powers why they ignore the bloodbath of innocent Palestinians." He compared the situation in Palestine to that of Kashmir, noting the need for urgent intervention to halt the suffering of innocent civilians. PM Shehbaz expressed gratitude to the political and religious leaders who participated in the APC, reinforcing the unity displayed during this critical moment.
Nawaz Sharif Critiques UN's Effectiveness
Nawaz Sharif also commended PM Shehbaz’s recent speech at the United Nations, voicing frustration over the UN's inability to implement its resolutions. He lamented the silence of the global community regarding the atrocities committed against innocent Palestinians and emphasized, "Palestine has been subjected to the worst violence in the history of the world."
PTI's Boycott
In related news, sources revealed that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan did not attend the APC meeting due to a directive from the party’s core committee, which advised against participation in the conference aimed at expressing solidarity with Palestine.
