Islamabad: President Asif Ali Zardari has approved the appointment of Justice Yahya Afridi as the Chief Justice of Pakistan. His term is set to begin on October 26, 2024, lasting for three years. The President has also granted approval for him to take the oath of office on the same date.
The Ministry of Law has issued a notification confirming Justice Yahya Afridi's appointment. According to a statement from the President's office, the appointment has been made in accordance with Articles 175A (3), 177, and 179 of the Constitution.
Notably, a 12-member special parliamentary committee approved Justice Yahya Afridi’s appointment yesterday. Following this, Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif recommended to the President that Justice Yahya Afridi be appointed as the Chief Justice of Pakistan.
