Prime Minister chairs review meeting on aid to Gaza, Palestine, and Lebanon

Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif chaired a high-level meeting today in Islamabad to review Pakistan's ongoing relief efforts for Gaza, Palestine, and Lebanon. He reaffirmed the nation's commitment to standing with the oppressed Muslims in these regions, stating, “We will not leave the Muslims of Gaza, Palestine, and Lebanon alone in their time of distress.”

In addition to governmental action, the Prime Minister appealed to the public to support their Palestinian brothers and sisters through donations. He announced that the Government of Pakistan has established a relief fund to assist the helpless Palestinians and Lebanese affected by Israeli aggression.

He urged Pakistanis, especially those who are financially privileged, to generously contribute to the relief fund. Donations can be made to the following accounts:

IBAN: PK11SBPD0000001111114292

Raast ID: 01111114292

The Prime Minister further disclosed that Pakistan would be sending more tents and blankets to Palestine, Gaza, and Lebanon as winter approaches. A total of 3,000 additional tents and 12,000 blankets will be dispatched soon to aid the suffering communities affected by Israeli aggression.

The Prime Minister directed Pakistani ambassadors in neighboring countries to submit reports on the required number of tents and blankets. He also emphasized that no compromise should be made on the quality of the relief items being sent, particularly ensuring that the tents are fireproof.

During the meeting, the Prime Minister was briefed by the NDMA and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on the progress of relief efforts. Since October 8, 2023, twelve cargo shipments containing relief items have been dispatched to Palestine and Lebanon. These shipments included 3,145 tents, 12,625 blankets, food supplies, powdered milk, and medicines. Further shipments are planned in the coming days.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also appreciated the efforts of NGOs collaborating with the government to deliver aid. He condemned Israel's efforts to block humanitarian assistance to the Palestinians, describing it as “concerning and condemnable.”

The Prime Minister expressed concern over the growing Israeli aggression and called on global powers to stop the genocide of innocent people in Palestine. He warned that the situation could escalate further if left unchecked, reminding the world that similar conflicts had led to major global wars in the 20th century.

The meeting was attended by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, Federal Ministers Ahsan Iqbal, Ahsan Khan Cheema, Attaullah Tarar, Advisor Rana Sanaullah, Special Assistant Tariq Fatemi, Chairman of the Higher Education Commission, Chairman NDMA, and senior officials from the relevant departments.
