Islamabad, October 22: Chairperson of the Benazir Income Support Program (BISP), Senator Rubina Khalid, met with Emma Fan, the Country Director of the Asian Development Bank (ADB), today at BISP headquarters. The meeting aimed to promote a future partnership between BISP and ADB, focusing on key sectors for skill training, international certifications, and job opportunities for deserving families.
During the discussion, Senator Rubina Khalid emphasized that BISP is currently providing financial support to 9.3 million deserving families, with expectations to increase this number to 10 million by the year's end. She announced the initiation of a skill training program to economically empower these families and highlighted the significance of international certifications for securing employment abroad.
Senator Khalid also stressed the need for integrating existing provincial poverty graduation and skill development programs with BISP initiatives.
Country Director Emma Fan assured the ADB’s full support for enhancing BISP's efforts to uplift deserving families and reaffirmed the importance of the ongoing partnership. Both parties agreed to conduct further consultations to identify suitable sectors for skill training and to develop a comprehensive strategy for implementing key initiatives, including raising awareness among deserving women.
