Lahore (APP): Chairman of the Prime Minister's Youth Program, Rana Mashhood Ahmad Khan, emphasized that without access to technology, progress is not possible, and the future economy heavily relies on it. The government is committed to equipping the youth with modern knowledge and skills. These remarks were made during his address as the chief guest at the "Annual Volunteer Congress 2024" organized by IPEC Foundation at Ali Institute of Education.
Rana Mashhood highlighted that global advancements in the IT sector make it crucial for Pakistan’s younger generation to step forward in technology. He stressed that Pakistan, at a critical juncture, cannot afford to lag behind in adopting cutting-edge technologies. "To compete globally, technology must be integrated across all sectors," he said.
The use of technology, particularly in education and training, can enhance student capabilities. The government is working to promote modern technology so that the youth can acquire new skills, improving both individual livelihoods and the nation's economy. He further emphasized that technology plays a critical role in sectors such as health and agriculture.
Mashhood also pointed out that modern technologies have the potential to revolutionize industries, enhance decision-making, and create new economic opportunities. Preparing tech-savvy youth for increasing digital exports remains a top government priority. This would not only empower them but also enable them to contribute to Pakistan's socio-economic development.
Speaking on climate change, Mashhood noted that Pakistan, despite contributing minimally to global pollution, is severely affected by the effects of climate change. This year, over 200,000 national volunteers are being trained to combat environmental pollution. He underlined the need for modern technology to promote digitalization in public institutions and improve services.
He also mentioned the government's efforts to make offices paperless, which will increase transparency and improve workflow. The move towards a paperless system is not only an environmental necessity but will also enhance the public service delivery system.
During his speech, he reflected on the visit of the Malaysian Prime Minister to Pakistan, calling it an important step in strengthening bilateral ties. He mentioned that the visit would improve economic, trade, and cultural relationships between the two countries, with positive impacts on Pakistan’s economic stability and foreign investments.
Rana Mashhood encouraged students to refine their skills and prepare for modern challenges. He motivated the youth to utilize opportunities to resolve societal issues and reassured them of the government's commitment to providing essential facilities, including advanced technologies and infrastructure in educational institutions.
Lastly, he mentioned the upcoming SCO Summit Conference, where leaders from member countries will discuss strategies to face global challenges. He highlighted the importance of this event for enhancing Pakistan's security and economic development, strengthening its international status, and fostering regional cooperation.
At the conclusion of the event, Rana Mashhood Ahmad Khan presented certificates to outstanding students, and a souvenir was presented to him in appreciation.
