AMBASSADORS OF SYRIA AND ALGERIA CALL ON NA SPEAKER
NA Speaker said that Pakistan would continue its unwavering cooperation and support to Syria in education, trade, tourism, especially religious tourism.

Islamabad, November 18, 2024 – The Ambassadors of Syria and Algeria met with National Assembly Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq at the Parliament House, discussing avenues for enhanced bilateral cooperation, regional challenges, and mutual interests.
Meeting with the Syrian Ambassador
H.E. Dr. Ramez Alraee, Ambassador of the Syrian Republic, emphasized the historic ties between Pakistan and Syria based on shared religion, culture, and history. NA Speaker Ayaz Sadiq reiterated Pakistan’s unwavering support for Syria’s sovereignty, territorial integrity, and the pursuit of durable peace.
He stressed the importance of strengthening cooperation in education, trade, tourism, and religious tourism. The Speaker also highlighted the significance of the Pak-Syria Parliamentary Friendship Group (PFG) in fostering collaboration between the two nations.
Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq praised the launch of Syrian Airlines' commercial flight operations between Damascus and Lahore, expressing confidence that this initiative would boost people-to-people contact, trade, and tourism. The Syrian Ambassador expressed gratitude to Pakistan for its ongoing support in education and religious tourism, and commended Pakistan’s efforts to promote regional peace.
Meeting with the Algerian Ambassador
H.E. Mr. Brahim Romani, Ambassador of Algeria, also met with NA Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq to discuss ways to enhance cooperation in trade, energy, and parliamentary diplomacy.
The Speaker highlighted the deep-rooted ties between Pakistan and Algeria, appreciating Algeria’s support for Pakistan on international platforms. He emphasized the importance of increasing bilateral trade, socio-economic cooperation, and people-to-people interactions through the Pak-Algeria Friendship Group (PFG).
NA Speaker also underscored Pakistan’s commitment to its "Look Africa" policy, recognizing Algeria as a significant partner in North Africa. Discussions included opportunities for collaboration in agriculture, trade, and energy sectors.
Global Concerns Raised by NA Speaker
The Speaker condemned the ongoing human rights violations in Palestine and Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), urging the international community to take action to end the aggression and ensure peaceful resolutions based on United Nations resolutions.
NA Speaker invited the Speaker of Algeria’s National People’s Assembly to visit Pakistan with a parliamentary delegation, noting that a formal invitation would follow soon.
