Death toll in Kurram rises to 75 over 3 days of intense clashes

Violence continues to escalate in Kurram district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, with 30 more people killed and 50 injured in fresh firing incidents, bringing the death toll to 75 over the past three days.
Moreover, 80 people have been injured over the past three days of clashes as a provincial government delegation reaches Parachinar to find a solution to the escalating violence.
According to police and hospital sources, fresh clashes erupted in several areas of Kurram district, including Bagan, Alizai Balshakhel, Khar Kalay, Maqbal, and Kunj Alizai, since last night. As a result, 30 people from both sides have been killed and 50 injured so far.
In the past three days, 75 people have been killed and 80 injured following the incidents of firing on a convoy of passenger vehicles, as well as firing in other areas, while houses and shops have also been damaged.

The latest spate of violence follows the attack on passenger vehicles two days ago in the Lower Kurram area, resulting in the deaths of 45 people. Since then, the law and order situation in the area has deteriorated once again, with retaliatory attacks causing further loss of life and injuries.
On the other hand, a delegation of the provincial government has reached Parachinar to manage the situation in Kurram district on the instructions of KP Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government spokesperson Barrister Saif said that the delegation includes Provincial Law Minister Aftab Alam, Chief Secretary Nadeem Aslam, IGP Akhtar Hayat Gandapur, the Kohat commissioner, and others.

Saif also told the media that there was no incident of firing on the government helicopter that was en route to Parachinar from Kohat. "The reports of firing on the helicopter are baseless," he claimed. The official delegation also met with tribal elders regarding the reinstatement of peace, and held detailed discussions regarding law and order.
According to Barrister Saif, efforts were being made to resolve all issues amicably and end the tension. He said detailed discussions had been held with Shia leaders today, which remained positive in resolving the issues.
