Iranian Foreign Minister Meets with Prime Minister of Pakistan to Discuss Regional Concerns and Bilateral Relations

The Foreign Minister of Iran, His Excellency Seyyed Abbas Araghchi, called on Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif today during his first official visit to Pakistan as Iran’s Foreign Minister. Prime Minister Shehbaz warmly welcomed Mr. Araghchi and extended his sincere regards to Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei and President Massoud Pezeshkian, affirming Pakistan’s commitment to strengthening the longstanding brotherly relations with Iran.

The Prime Minister emphasized Pakistan’s intent to enhance cooperation with Iran through continuous high-level exchanges and by fostering mutually beneficial partnerships in areas of shared interest. The discussion also focused on the pressing challenges in the Middle East, particularly the grave humanitarian crisis in Gaza.

Reaffirming Pakistan’s unwavering support for the Palestinian people in their legitimate struggle for self-determination, Prime Minister Shehbaz expressed deep concern over the ongoing atrocities by Israel in Gaza. He reiterated Pakistan’s call for an immediate ceasefire, unhindered humanitarian assistance, and the enforcement of the Palestinian right to self-determination, as recognized by both UN and OIC resolutions.

The Prime Minister also condemned Israel’s recent attack on Iran on October 26, 2024, and expressed Pakistan’s firm support for Iran’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.

Foreign Minister Araghchi expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Shehbaz for Pakistan’s principled stance on both Palestinian and Iranian issues, acknowledging the importance of continued solidarity between Pakistan and Iran on regional matters.

Both leaders reaffirmed their commitment to work together to address these regional concerns, striving for peace, security, and mutual growth.
