May 9 riots: Imran Khan’s bail pleas rejected in eight cases

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan’s bail pleas were rejected on Wednesday in eight cases pertaining to the May 9 vandalism.
According to details, the court has announced the reserved verdict in line with the May 9 vandalism. The Lahore anti-terrorism court (ATC) Judge Manzar Ali Gul had delivered the verdict.
The attacks on Jinnah House, Askari Tower, Shadman police station among eight cases in which the bail pleas of the deposed prime minister was rejected.
During the hearing, the PTI founder’s lawyer, Salman Safdar said: “The PTI founder has nominated in the cases on the political grounds. The PTI founder was arrested during the May 9 violence.”
Safdar said: “The PTI founder has condemned the May 9 riots. The verdicts had been delivered against the government in 30 cases. I am presenting nearly 25 cases before you.”
“The police officers are plaintiff in all the cases. The different allegations have been made over doing conspiracies,” he added.

Safdar maintained: “The PTI founder is behind bars for the last one and a half years.”
On the other side, the petitioner’s lawyer said, “The PTI founder’s bails should be accepted.”
The prosecution had opposed the bails of the PTI founder.

The special prosecutor said, “The decisions that are presented have nothing to do with these cases.”
“Over 200 buildings have been attacked on the directions of the accused,” the prosecutor said.
The prosecutor said, “The statements have been on social media about waging real jihad.”
