Pregnant woman butchered, body dismembered by mother-in-law, sister-in-law, other family members
Daska woman butchered by in-laws over jealousy: Shocking details revealed
The Daska police have made significant progress in the tragic murder of a pregnant woman, uncovering shocking details behind the crime.
The woman, who was identified as Zara, was allegedly brutally murdered by her mother-in-law, sister-in-law and other family members, who dismembered her body and disposed it of in separate locations, reportedly driven by jealousy and hatred.
According to DSP Abid Rasheed, the victim's mother-in-law, Sughran, along with her daughter and grandson, planned the murder. The motive, he claims, was rooted in resentment towards the victim after her marriage and the affectionate relationship between the couple.
Qadeer Ahmed is the only brother of five sisters. His mother Sughran's discontent stemmed from the perceived neglect her son showed towards her and his sisters following his marriage. Unable to bear her son’s affection for his wife, the suspect reportedly plotted with her daughter and grandson to murder the woman.
On the night of the murder, Sughran allegedly suffocated the victim to death with a pillow while her daughter and grandson held Zara's legs. The victim, who was seven months pregnant, died from asphyxiation, taking the lives of both mother and unborn child.
DSP Rasheed confirmed that DNA samples and fingerprints from the body parts and the murder weapon -- a pillow and a butcher's knife -- were sent to Lahore for forensic analysis.
Sughran and her daughter Yasmin have been sent behind bars on judicial remand, and the police say they will face serious charges. Her grandson Abdullah is also in jail.
The police have also arrested Naveed, a relative of Sughran, on charges of facilitating the crime. She is accused of sending Rs10,000 to Naveed through an online transaction to summon him from Lahore to Daska.
The DSP emphasized that the investigation was progressing well, and a strong case would be built to ensure the perpetrators receive exemplary punishment. He added that the charpoy and victim's clothes have been taken into custody.
“The accused acted out of jealousy and hatred, believing that the victim was bewitching their son, and this resentment led to the fatal act,” said Rasheed. “We are committed to bringing justice to the family.”
The investigation continues, and the authorities have promised swift legal action against those involved in the murder.
