Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif departed from Riyadh today following his participation in the extraordinary Arab-Islamic Summit. The Prime Minister was seen off at the International Royal Terminal by Pakistan's Ambassador to Saudi Arabia, Ahmad Farooq, Saudi Ambassador to Pakistan, His Excellency Nawaf Saeed Al-Maliki, and other diplomatic staff.

During his three-day visit to Azerbaijan, Prime Minister Sharif will attend the 29th Conference of the Parties (COP-29) Climate Action Summit in Baku. The summit is organized to address global environmental pollution and highlight the challenges faced by countries affected by the adverse impacts of climate change. Prime Minister Sharif will represent Pakistan at this crucial event, focusing on the climate change risks faced by Pakistan.

At COP-29, the Prime Minister will participate in the global leaders’ Climate Action Summit, where he will also deliver a speech. Additionally, Prime Minister Sharif will host a Climate Finance Roundtable Conference on behalf of Pakistan, which will see participation from numerous global leaders.

Alongside his participation in COP-29, Prime Minister Sharif will attend the "Glaciers 2025: Actions for Glaciers" high-level event organized by Tajikistan’s President, His Excellency Imam Ali Rahman, to discuss the protection of glaciers.

The Prime Minister will also take part in a high-level event titled "Delivering Early Warning for All and Addressing Extreme Heat," organized by United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, addressing the escalating global temperatures. Additionally, he will attend a dinner hosted by the President of Azerbaijan in honor of global leaders attending COP-29.

Prime Minister Sharif will hold bilateral meetings with various world leaders attending COP-29, where discussions will not only focus on enhancing bilateral relations but also emphasize the climate change risks facing Pakistan.

The Prime Minister is accompanied by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar, and Special Assistant Tariq Fatemi.
