Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif met with the Saudi Investment Minister Engr. Khalid bin Abdulaziz Al-Falih and Royal Court Advisor Mr. Mohammed Al-Tuwaijri today on the sidelines of the Arab Islamic Summit in Riyadh. The leaders discussed recent progress on economic cooperation between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia.
During the meeting, the Prime Minister highlighted the enduring brotherly ties between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia, which continue to grow stronger. He appreciated Saudi Arabia’s support to Pakistan in times of need, extending his best wishes to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz, and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.
Reflecting on Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman’s recent visit to Pakistan, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif called it a key milestone for strengthening bilateral investment and economic relations. The Prime Minister expressed satisfaction that 8 of the 2.8 billion USD Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) signed during the Saudi Investment Minister’s recent visit to Pakistan are already underway.
The Prime Minister praised the successful organization of the Arab Islamic Summit by Saudi leadership and expressed gratitude for the warm hospitality extended to the Pakistani delegation. Discussions also included opportunities for Pakistani skilled labor in Saudi Arabia, with an anticipated breakthrough in this area.
The Prime Minister acknowledged the progress made in joint economic initiatives, particularly through the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC), which is playing a vital role in accelerating foreign investment in Pakistan. He also affirmed Pakistan’s support for Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 and commended the Saudi leadership’s foresight.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif emphasized that the Pakistani expatriate community in Saudi Arabia is contributing significantly to the economic development of both nations.
The meeting was attended by Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, Federal Information Minister Attaullah Tarar, and Special Assistant to the Prime Minister Tariq Fatemi.
