Terrorists attacked the Jaffar Express traveling from Quetta to Peshawar in the Bolan Pass area, targeting innocent civilians. Passengers were taken hostage inside a tunnel, according to security sources.

Security Forces Launch Clearance Operation

Despite the challenging terrain, security forces cordoned off the area and launched an operation to rescue the passengers and neutralize the terrorists. Officials reported that:

  • Most hostages include women and children.
  • The terrorists are in contact with facilitators abroad.
  • The operation will continue until all attackers are eliminated.

A previous report stated that the train came under heavy firing between Gudalur and Peru Kanri, injuring the train driver and several passengers.

Serious Concerns Over Passenger Safety

Railway officials confirmed:

  • 450 passengers were on board in nine coaches.
  • Communication with the train crew and passengers has been lost.
  • Railway and law enforcement rushed to the site immediately.

Attackers May Have Taken Control of Train

According to Levies officials, armed assailants attacked near Tunnel No. 8 at Peru Kanri, on the border of Sibi and Bolan. Security forces are working to regain control of the train.

Meanwhile, an emergency has been declared at Civil Hospital Sibi and Dhadar to provide medical assistance to the injured.

Balochistan Government’s Response

Balochistan government spokesperson Shahid Rind confirmed the attack, stating:

  • The train was attacked in a remote, hilly area, making rescue efforts difficult.
  • An emergency has been imposed in Sibi Hospital, with ambulances dispatched.
  • A relief train has been sent to assist in evacuation efforts.

Authorities are investigating the nature of the attack, with initial reports pointing to a possible act of terrorism.

"The government has taken emergency measures, and all institutions are mobilized. The public is urged to remain calm and avoid spreading unverified information," Rind stated.
