National security forum urges decisive action against terrorism

The Parliamentary Committee on National Security on Tuesday strongly condemned the recent surge in terrorist activities and called for the immediate implementation of the National Action Plan (NAP). The committee emphasized the need to dismantle terrorist networks and counter their logistical support effectively.

During an in-camera session chaired by National Assembly Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, the committee commended the bravery and professionalism of Pakistan’s security forces in their relentless fight against terrorism. The forum reiterated Pakistan’s unwavering commitment to eliminating terrorism in all its forms while expressing solidarity with the victims of terrorist attacks.

A national consensus against terrorism

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif presented the unanimous declaration adopted by the committee. The forum called for a strategic and unified political resolve to confront terrorism and ensure the full strength of the state is utilized in this fight.

The committee raised serious concerns over the misuse of social media by terrorist groups for spreading propaganda, recruitment, and attack coordination. It urged authorities to take immediate action to curb digital networks operated by terrorist organizations.

Unwavering support for security forces

Reaffirming its unwavering support for the Pakistan Armed Forces and law enforcement agencies, the committee recognized their immense sacrifices and commitment to national security. It emphasized that the nation stands firmly with the armed forces, police, FC, and intelligence agencies in their war against terrorism.

The committee categorically stated that no institution, individual, or group collaborating with anti-state elements will be tolerated, and stringent actions will be taken against such elements.

Opposition’s absence regretted

The committee expressed regret over the absence of certain opposition members but assured that the process of consultation would continue in the future to build a united national stance against terrorism.

High-level participation in the meeting

The session was attended by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Chief of Army Staff General Syed Asim Munir, senior ministers, military officials, intelligence agency representatives, and members of the Parliamentary Committee on National Security.
