Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has directed cabinet members to enhance their performance and prepare for rigorous scrutiny to meet public expectations and achieve economic transformation.
During a televised federal cabinet meeting chaired by the Prime Minister, he emphasized that Pakistan's economic growth depends on improving key sectors, including agriculture, commerce, trade, finance, IT, mines & minerals, and maritime affairs.
Performance Review and Key Directives
Welcoming the new cabinet members, the Prime Minister expressed confidence in their abilities and urged them to work with dedication and sincerity. He particularly highlighted:
- Railways must be completely revamped to enhance efficiency.
- Maritime Affairs Ministry holds immense potential for economic growth.
- Performance review meetings will be held every three months, where federal ministers and secretaries must present their progress reports.
Security and Economic Outlook
The Prime Minister also addressed rising terrorism, particularly in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and praised the sacrifices of law enforcement agencies (LEAs) and armed forces. He stated,
"Without complete peace, development and prosperity remain an illusion. The sacrifices of police, armed forces, and rangers must never be forgotten."
On the economic front, he highlighted:
- Foreign remittances have surged to over $3.1 billion.
- Boosting exports is essential for sustainable growth.
Establishment of Daanish University
The Prime Minister announced the establishment of a state-of-the-art university, Daanish University, using £190 million received from the UK's National Crime Agency (NCA).
- The university will focus on Artificial Intelligence, Technology, and Modern Sciences.
- Its first academic session will commence in August 2026.
This initiative aims to equip Pakistan's youth with advanced knowledge and innovation-driven skills for the future.
