Islamabad: Pakistan People's Party (PPP) Vice President and Senator Sherry Rehman extended her heartfelt congratulations to women across Pakistan and around the world on the occasion of International Women’s Day.
She stated that this day is observed to recognize and acknowledge women’s contributions, services, and rights. She emphasized that women in Pakistan are proving their capabilities in every field of life.
Sherry Rehman highlighted that Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto ensured women's rights in the Constitution of Pakistan, and Shaheed Benazir Bhutto remains a beacon of hope for women.
She further recalled that in 1995, Benazir Bhutto addressed the Fourth World Conference on Women in Beijing, where she advocated for economic empowerment, social equality, and education for women. She added that Benazir Bhutto took practical steps to integrate women into the mainstream and empower them.
Sherry Rehman urged that we must follow the legacy of Shaheed Benazir Bhutto by ensuring women’s education, skill development, and financial independence. She reiterated that PPP will continue to support every initiative for women’s empowerment and equality.
She also praised Bilawal Bhutto Zardari’s leadership, stating that PPP has introduced historic reforms for women’s education, healthcare, economic well-being, and overall prosperity.
"We will continue our policies and initiatives for gender equality and women’s empowerment," she added.
She urged the nation to stand together for a brighter and more inclusive future for women.
