*Federal Minister Sayed Imran Ahmed Shah Visits BISP Camp in Kasur*

Federal Minister for Poverty Alleviation


and Social Safety, Sayed Imran Ahmed Shah, visited the Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) camp in Kasur on Friday. During his visit, the Minister reviewed the cash disbursement process to women, inspected all counters, and inquired about the issues faced by the beneficiaries.  


Speaking on the occasion, Minister Shah stated that serving humanity in distress is the mission of party leader Muhammad Nawaz Sharif and Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif. He emphasized that the government is taking effective steps to enable the common man to stand on their feet and to eliminate poverty from the country.  


He added that due to the government’s positive policies, inflation has decreased, and the economy has stabilized. He credited Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s visionary leadership for putting Pakistan on the path of progress, with improving economic indicators recognized globally.  


The Minister also mentioned that legal action is being taken against those involved in fraudulent activities and assured that he would coordinate with the BISP team to change figures of the amounts given to beneficiaries to ease the disbursement process. He expressed satisfaction with the seating arrangements for women at the camp and appreciated the efforts of the local administration.  

This visit follows the Minister’s recent tour of the BISP headquarters in Islamabad, where Chairperson Senator Rubina Khalid and Secretary Aamir Ali Ahmed briefed him in detail on the institution’s performance.  


The Minister emphasized women’s empowerment, transparency, and data-driven reforms. He directed immediate registration of eligible individuals with a PMT score below 32, coordination with provincial police to prevent fraud, and the implementation of surprise inspections.  


He expressed concern over the data gap regarding the employment status of trained women and proposed MoUs with countries like Germany for exporting skilled manpower. He also inquired about provincial representation, initiatives in Balochistan, and the effectiveness of the new payment system.  

BISP Secretary Aamir Ali Ahmed informed the Minister that the Chairperson had proposed provincial representation in the constitution of next Board. He also shared details of special initiatives for Balochistan, pilot projects for direct bank account payments in collaboration with the State Bank and the Gates Foundation, and awareness campaigns through mobile vans and SMS services.  


The Minister was also briefed on the Benazir Taleemi Wazaif (education stipend), Nashonuma, skills training programs, and effective budget utilization. He expressed confidence in BISP's performance and assured the Ministry’s full support.
