Islamabad: The highly anticipated Pakistan Minerals Investment Forum 2025 (PMIF25) officially commenced today at the Jinnah Convention Centre, bringing together global investors and strategic partners to explore the country’s vast untapped mineral potential.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, delivering the keynote address at the opening ceremony, emphasized Pakistan’s vision for responsible and sustainable mining practices. He reiterated the government’s commitment to economic self-reliance through the development of the minerals sector.
“We are blessed with trillions of dollars’ worth of mineral resources. If properly utilized, Pakistan can say goodbye to foreign debt and aid dependency,” the Prime Minister remarked.
Army Chief to Highlight Strategic Value of Mineral Sector
Chief of Army Staff General Syed Asim Munir is also scheduled to address the forum later today. His speech is expected to focus on the strategic importance of mineral security, training initiatives, and the role of the armed forces in supporting safe, transparent investment frameworks.
Over 300 Global Delegates Join PMIF25
The two-day event has drawn the participation of over 300 foreign delegates from across the globe—including the United States, China, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Azerbaijan, Denmark, Finland, Kenya, and the United Kingdom.
A notable presence is that of the U.S. delegation, led by Eric Meyer, Senior Bureau Official for the Bureau of South and Central Asian Affairs. Meyer expressed strong interest in critical mineral partnerships and American private sector investment in Pakistan.
Launch of National Minerals Harmonisation Framework 2025
One of the most important announcements at the forum was the launch of the National Minerals Harmonisation Framework 2025—a policy initiative aimed at standardizing provincial and federal regulations, creating an investor-friendly environment, and improving transparency.
Focus on Major Projects and Agreements
Federal Minister for Petroleum Ali Pervaiz Malik revealed that multiple investment agreements are expected to be signed during PMIF25. He highlighted Reko Diq and other key mineral projects as prime opportunities for foreign investors, alongside reforms aimed at reducing royalty burdens and promoting corporate-style mining.
