Islamabad: Federal Minister for Poverty Alleviation and Social Safety, Syed Imran Ahmed Shah, on Wednesday emphasized the vital importance of practically engaging technically skilled youth with the employment sector by enhancing cooperation with the National Vocational and Technical Training Commission (NAVTTC) and the Prime Minister’s Youth Programme (PMYP).
The remarks were made during his official visit to the Pakistan Poverty Alleviation Fund (PPAF), where he was accompanied by Secretary Naveed Ahmed Sheikh. The delegation was warmly received and briefed by PPAF Chief Executive Officer Nadir Gul Barech, who shared a comprehensive overview of the organization's activities, structure, and strategic development goals.
According to the CEO, PPAF is currently active in 150 districts across the country and works collaboratively with 163 partner organizations. Over the past two decades, PPAF has positively impacted more than 300,000 households, enabling over 100,000 families to become self-reliant through targeted poverty reduction and skill-based interventions.
During the briefing, the minister called for the implementation of strong transparency standards, effective auditing procedures, and comprehensive follow-up systems to ensure that development programs translate into lasting improvements in the lives of beneficiaries. He urged the formulation of a concrete plan to secure sustainable livelihood opportunities post-skills training.
Secretary Naveed Ahmed Sheikh also highlighted a growing concern: the increasing vulnerability of Balochistan to man-made disasters. He stressed the urgency of developing and implementing adaptive strategies to address and mitigate these evolving threats.
This visit marks a reaffirmation of the government’s commitment to empowering youth and creating sustainable pathways out of poverty through structured partnerships and well-monitored implementation frameworks.
