Leaders from across Pakistan’s political spectrum expressed deep grief and heartfelt condolences over the passing of senior Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leader and renowned intellectual, Taj Haider.
PPP Vice President Senator Sherry Rehman, in a deeply emotional message, said:
“Taj Haider was an invaluable asset to the PPP. He was a true soldier of democracy, a deeply religious and knowledgeable man, and someone who always stood firm on his principles. He served Pakistan, democracy, and the rights of Sindh with great dedication. His calm demeanor, decency, and commitment made him a brave and principled leader. His services will always be remembered. May Allah grant him the highest rank in Jannah and give patience to the bereaved family.”
Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leaders also paid tribute, highlighting his cross-party respect and his legacy of democratic struggle.
Speaker of the National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq conveyed his sorrow, calling Taj Haider “a principled and visionary figure of Pakistani politics.” He added that Haider’s contributions to parliamentary democracy and public welfare remain unmatched.
Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly echoed similar sentiments, stating that Haider’s demise is a great loss for the nation, and his ideological clarity and honesty made him a rare figure in today’s political landscape.
Leaders from various political backgrounds and civil society mourned the loss, praising Taj Haider for his decades-long struggle for constitutional supremacy, public rights, and social justice.

Vice President of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) and Senator Sherry Rehman has expressed profound grief and sorrow over the demise of senior PPP leader Taj Haider.
In her condolence message, she extended heartfelt sympathies to the bereaved family and said, “Taj Haider was an asset to the party; his services will always be remembered.”
Senator Sherry Rehman further said that the late Taj Haider was a true soldier of democracy, a devout and principled individual who embodied integrity and intellect. “He rendered invaluable services for democracy, Pakistan, the rights of Sindh, and the welfare of its people,” she added.
Describing his personality, she noted that he was a soft-spoken, courteous, yet courageous man who firmly stood by his principles.
